The APQP Engineer shall lead cross functional teams to ensure the effective implementation of process and quality controls in support of the development and launch of MJ Celco products. The APQP Engineer shall have proven leadership, organizational, decision making and problem solving skills. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is responsible for assuring that new and revised processes and related controls satisfy all company and customer specific requirements.


  • Prepare and manage all aspects of assigned customer PPAP processes in the AIAG core tools (as required). This activity includes the preparation, execution and fulfillment of all customer specific requirements for multi-level PPAP/PSW submission and approval.
  • Perform product and process risk assessment activities, including Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA).
  • Design and create appropriate process control activities and supporting documentation for new and revised products per customer specific, AIAG and company requirements. Develops and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating products for acceptability.
  • Coordinate layout inspection data through providing technical guidance, direction and support to Layout Technicians, CMM Programmer, Quality Engineers and Inspectors.
  • Develop capability and test plans in compliance with customer specific requirements.
  • Develop, document, and validate inspection and test methods to support design control, in-process inspection, and final inspection activities. Working understanding of on-going SPC and statistics.
  • Develop, document, and validate inspection equipment in MSA analyses and Gage R&R.
  • Investigate and report appropriate environmental and material data, as required by customers (RoHS / Reach / IMDS).
  • Provide Quality Engineering support to outsourced analytical laboratories and manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with customer test specifications and ISO/IATF16949 requirements.
  • Manage vendor PPAP submissions and dispositions for outsourced processes and services.
  • Conduct and lead process validation activities. Execute required documentation of activities as directed by customer requirements. 
  • Coordinate and secure receipt of all customer specific documentation required in PPAP / PSW submission. Manage documentation in customer portals as required.
  • Support product/process transfers to appropriate other MJ Celco manufacturing facilities.
  • Interact with customers, suppliers and internal personnel and manage responses for quality concerns and improvement or development initiatives.
  • Key contributor / leader in overall project management processes and execution. Provide competent and timely recommendations to management, identifying bottlenecks, anticipating future needs and required actions.
  • Program point of contact for technical communication on quality issues.
  • Assists in resolving complex technical problems by providing guidance and facilitation in the determination of root cause and appropriate countermeasures.
  • Support Corrective and Preventive Action Process for product/process non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal audits.
  • Participate in company internal auditing processes as directed.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Quality Assurance disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Quality Assurance experience in the electronics, manufacturing, automotive or process engineering field.
  • Candidate must possess and demonstrate strong competency in advanced Quality Core Tools such as Control Planning, Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), GD&T, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis, and Mistake Proofing/Poke Yoke.
  • Record of success in the fast-paced, automotive, contract manufacturing (stamping) and production environments is required.
  • ASQ Certification is strongly desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 9000 / IATF16949 requirements and interpretations including implementation, administration and maintenance.
  • Extensive metrology and GD&T skills. Intermediate statistical knowledge and back round with hands-on experience with analysis methods.
  • The candidate must possess strong problem solving, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with a high level of energy, motivation, commitment, professionalism and integrity.
  • Able to successfully lead and develop cross-functional teams.
  • Detail oriented to accurately prepare statistical reports, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Quality management systems audit experience.
